Compass was formed in March of 1976 by President John Buteau. From a small office on 47th Street in Chicago, we have grown to have offices or franchises in major cities across the United States. The headquarters is located in Lemont, IL and oversees all company operations. Compass is proud of the family atmosphere and it shows in the dedicated workers who have stayed with company for many years.
Service and Strengths
Our strengths lie in the phenomenal service you will receive with Compass. From the competitive pricing based on contracts with all major railroads, to the fact that you will never have to speak to anybody's voice mail we prove that we are a service orientated IMC. There are full time Customer Service Managers around the nation whose goal is to consistently keep track of all freight moving, and report any delays or delivery problems to the customer. Our staff has industry experience averaging 10 years, which translates into the complete professionalism you expect and deserve from the company that is handling YOUR shipments. Intermodal Division
We are a Full Service Intermodal Marketing Company. Compass was a pioneer in computerization in this industry. We have full EDI capability with every major railroad and domestic steamship company operating in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. We have operating offices or franchises in the following cities; Atlanta, Georgia; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Chicago, Illinois; Belton, South Carolina; Henderson, Nevada; Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; just to name a few. Our intention is growth focused on fulfilling customer needs. We pride ourselves on constantly advising our customers regarding all aspects of their shipments. We are completely dedicated to making sure the shipment is taken care of from step one, along with watching for unforeseen difficulties. We operate on a computer system created by and for the Compass group. We intend to mirror the growth in the Intermodal industry, without expanding beyond our customer's expectations. There is NO small account for us. EVERY shipment gets equal and 100% treatment all the time. That's one reason we continue to grow and still have the personalized service you expect.
